Originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, Humayun Khan is a “deeply soulful and blazingly acrobatic” (Time Out New York) vocalist and musician who performs with traditional Afghan and Indian instruments including the harmonium, tabla and tanpura. Khan has been awing audiences across the globe since 1993 with “soul-stirring” performances at the Kennedy Center, Washington National Cathedral, and Asilah International Cultural Festival in Morocco, among others. This culturally unifying concert featuring Khan, his band and JMU School of Music students includes classical Indian khayal, Afghan folk music, world fusion, Pakistani qawwali, and Khan’s unique blending of Persian poetry with Indian ragas.  www.humayunkhanmusic.com
