Making its Forbes Center debut on its first-ever North American tour, the Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra is one of the premier symphony orchestras in China. Established in 1956 along with the construction of the famous Shanghai Opera House, the Orchestra has become known for its refined interpretation of classical symphony repertoire. This spectacular evening features Verdi’s Overture to La forza del destino and Xinghai’s magnificent Yellow River Piano Concerto, composed in the late 1960s during China’s Cultural Revolution. Rounding out the program is Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95 (From the New World), the Czech composer’s most popular symphony and the first work he created entirely in the United States. Don’t miss this evening of masterful musicianship!  www.shanghaigjysymphony.com
