Experience the JMU Symphony Orchestra as they accompany the winners of the prestigious School of Music Concerto Competition. Majors from each of the five areas of the School (woodwinds, brass and percussion, strings, piano, and voice) compete in the competition, D.M.A. pianist Jeremiah Padilla and master's alto saxophonist Anthony Cincotta. Two finalists are then selected by each area to compete in the finals for a coveted spot in the honors concert. The second half of the program features The Madison Singers, JMU Chorale, selected soloists and Symphony Orchestra performing selections from The Creation, Joseph Haydn’s most famous and enduring masterpiece. The glorious oratorio chronicles the seven days of biblical creation and is an ode to the goodness of God.
