ARTWORK BY RICH HILLIARD

"... a work of ravishing romantic beauty."

The Telegraph

Komachi is a 99-year-old woman who meets a young poet in a Tokyo park. Unattractive and wrinkled, Komachi was once a great beauty courted by a handsome general. When she shares her past with the poet, the two enact a tale beyond time, with deadly consequences. Based on the 14th-century work by Kan’ami Kiyotsugu, Sotoba Komachi is one of the Five Modern Noh Plays, a collection written by Japan’s Yukio Mishima between 1950 and 1955. Features students from JMU’s School of Theatre and Dance.
