“Undulating rhythmic phrases that push and pull…harmonizing that is both ethereal and earthy.”
For more than 60 years, South Africa's Ladysmith Black Mambazo has warmed the hearts of audiences worldwide with uplifting vocal harmonies, signature dance moves and irresistible onstage charm. Introduced to the world through Paul Simon's 1987 album, Graceland, the group was designated "South Africa's cultural ambassadors to the world" by the late Nelson Mandela, a title they carry with the highest honor. They are the most decorated group in world music history with five GRAMMY Awards and 19 nominations. But the accolades only hint at the experience. "It isn't merely the grace and power of their dancing or the beauty of their singing that rivets the attention," says Paul Simon, "but the sheer joy and love that emanates from their being." Singing a message of peace, love and harmony, Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a once-in-a-lifetime evening for the whole family.
