Student Tickets
James Madison University students with a valid student ID are eligible to purchase discounted student tickets online and/or in person for select performances at the Forbes Center. Refer to individual events for availability and pricing.
Students from any other school may purchase discounted student tickets in person with proof of enrollment.
All tickets sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
Setting Up Your Forbes Center JMU Student Ticket Account
- The Box Office might have already created your temporary account based on your class enrollment or major. All you need to do is set a password. Follow this link.
- Click "Forgot Username and Password."
- Enter your full JMU student email (including @dukes.jmu.edu) in the Email Address cell and click Request Email.
- If you get an error message or pop up saying you don't have an account or the email isn't recognized, please make a new account using your @dukes.jmu.edu email, then contact the Box Office to get it activated.
- If you did not receive an error message, check your email for a reset password link.

- Create password and log in to Account.
- Password must be at least 12 characters, contain at least one upper and one lower case letter, and contain one of the following special characters: ! @ # $ % ^ & *

How To Purchase Discounted JMU Student Tickets - Online
A JMU Student may purchase one discounted student ticket per qualifying event, per online transaction. Discounted tickets for select School of Music and School of Theatre and Dance events are available online for JMU Students. Discounted tickets for outside artists must be purchased in person.
If a student is found purchasing more than one discounted student ticket per event, online discounted ticket purchasing privileges will be revoked.
Online sales for all events end 2 hours prior to the performance.
- After the account is activated (see above), log in and click Event Calendar.
- Click on event tile and choose a seat. If the account has the correct JMU Student permissions, a "JMU Student" ticket option will appear. If it does not, contact the Box Office to activate the account or make sure you're logged in. *Remember, not all events have a student ticket and not all student tickets are available online.*
- Only one ticket to one event can be purchased at the discounted student rate per transaction. Regular priced tickets may be also be purchased at that time.
- Click "Add Seat to Cart".
- Enter the code student2425 in the "Have a coupon code?" box and click "Submit".
- The price of one ticket will change to the discounted JMU Student rate.
- Please double check the price is correct. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.
- Proceed to Check Out and complete sale.
- If you selected "Print @ Home" as your ticket delivery method, you may show the barcode on your phone at the door.
TIP >> If you added a ticket to your cart before logging into your activated student account, the student ticket rate will not appear. Simply add a Regular priced ticket to your cart, check out, log in, go back to your cart, enter the coupon code, and the ticket should update to the student rate.
In-Person Ticket Purchase
Please do not wait to purchase tickets at the last minute. This causes long lines at the box office and late seating.

Advance Purchase
One ticket per ID, per event can be purchased during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm, at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor). Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted.
Night/Afternoon-Of-Show: Select Music Performances in the Concert Hall and Recital Hall
One discounted student ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the upstairs box office (Grand Lobby, second floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted. Regular priced tickets can be purchased at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor).
Night/Afternoon-Of-Show: Performances in the Mainstage Theatre and Earlynn J. Miller Dance Theatre
One discounted student ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted.
Night/Afternoon-Of-Show: Performances in the Studio Theatre
One discounted ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the Studio Theatre box office (Outside the Studio Theatre, first floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted. Regular priced tickets can also be purchased.
Guest Etiquette
- Please be respectful of other patrons. Patrons that interfere with the performance will be asked to leave.
- Please put your phone away. Out of respect for the performers, and due to copyright rules, texting, photography, video and audio recording are not allowed.
- Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of management at an appropriate time in the performance.
- Most performances are reserved seating. You cannot change seats during a performance.
- Food, drinks, and large personal items are not allowed in the venues.
