James Madison University students with a valid student ID are eligible to purchase discounted student tickets online and/or in person for select performances at the Forbes Center. Refer to individual events for availability and pricing.
Students from any other school may purchase discounted student tickets in person with proof of enrollment.
All tickets sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
Non-JMU Discounted Student Tickets
Student tickets are available for purchase in person only and must be purchased by the student. Limit one student ticket per performance. A valid student ID is required at the time of purchase. Students who do not have a student ID may provide the name of their school to verify eligibility.
JMU Faculty, Staff & Student Discounted Rush Tickets
A limited number of rush tickets may be available to JMU faculty, staff, and students starting one week before each performance. Rush tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed for every performance.
Setting Up Your Forbes Center JMU Student Ticket Account
- The Box Office might have already created your temporary account based on your class enrollment or major. All you need to do is set a password. Follow this link and then click on Login in the upper right corner. Click on Forgot Password to set or reset your password. *Please note that the Forbes Center has transitioned to a new ticketing platform, so even if you have previously set a password, you will need to create a new one.*
- At the "We'll send you an email with account directions" popup, enter your full JMU student email (including @dukes.jmu.edu) in the Email Address cell and click "Send Email." Click on the link in the email to set your new password.
- If you get an error message or pop up saying the email address was not found / isn't recognized, please make a new account using your @dukes.jmu.edu email, then contact the Box Office to get it activated. Click the back button and select "Don't have an Account? Register" to create and add your account. Please contact the box office to complete your student ticket setup.

Purchasing Discounted JMU Student Tickets - Online
A JMU student may purchase one discounted student ticket per qualifying event, per online transaction. Discounted tickets for select School of Music and School of Theatre and Dance events are available online for JMU students. Discounted tickets for outside artists must be purchased in person.
If a student is found purchasing more than one discounted student ticket per event, online discounted ticket purchasing privileges will be revoked.
Online sales for all events end two hours prior to the performance.
- After the account is activated (see above), log in and click Events in the menu across the top.
- Click on event tile, and—if it is eligible for a student discount—the words "PACKAGE ELIGIBLE" will appear.
Select your time and click Next to select your seat from the map. If the account has the correct JMU student permissions, a "Student" ticket option will appear. If it does not, contact the Box Office to activate the account or make sure you're logged in. *Remember, not all events have a student ticket and not all student tickets are available online.*
- Only one ticket to one event can be purchased at the discounted student rate per transaction. Regular-price tickets may also be purchased at that time.
- Add your seat and Click "Add to Cart".
- Select your delivery method and complete checkout.
- If you selected "Print @ Home" as your ticket delivery method, you may show the barcode on your phone at the door.
Purchasing Tickets In-Person
Please do not wait to purchase tickets at the last minute. This causes long lines at the box office and late seating.

Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted. Regular priced tickets can be purchased at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor).
Performances in the Mainstage Theatre and Earlynn J. Miller Dance Theatre
One discounted student ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted.
Performances in the Studio Theatre
One discounted ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the Studio Theatre box office (Outside the Studio Theatre, first floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted. Regular priced tickets can also be purchased.
