Student Tickets
James Madison University students with a valid student ID are eligible to purchase discounted student tickets for select performances at the Forbes Center. Refer to individual events for availability and pricing.
In-Person Ticket Purchase
The box office(s) are located at the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts, 147 Warsaw Ave.
The box office does not offer refunds or exchanges. All tickets sales are final.
Please do not wait to purchase tickets at the last minute. This causes long lines at the box office and late seating.
Advance Purchase
One ticket per ID, per event can be purchased during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm, at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor). Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted.
Night/Afternoon-Of-Show: Select Music Performances in the Concert Hall and Recital Hall
One discounted student ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the upstairs box office (Grand Lobby, second floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted. Regular priced tickets can be purchased at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor).
Night/Afternoon-Of-Show: Performances in the Mainstage Theatre and Earlynn J. Miller Dance Theatre
One discounted student ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the main box office (Main Lobby, first floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted.
Night/Afternoon-Of-Show: Performances in the Studio Theatre
One discounted ticket per ID, per event can be purchased at the Studio Theatre box office (Outside the Studio Theatre, first floor), starting 1 hour prior to a performance and up until 20 minutes after the performance begins. Cash, major credit cards, and JACards are accepted. Regular priced tickets can also be purchased.
Online Ticket Purchase
A JMU student may purchase one discounted student ticket per qualifying event, per online transaction. Discounted tickets for select School of Music and School of Theatre and Dance events are available online. Discounted tickets for outside artists must be purchased in person.
If a student is found purchasing more than one discounted student ticket per event, online discounted ticket purchasing privileges will be revoked.
Online sales for all events end 2 hours prior to the performance.

How To Purchase Discounted Student Tickets - Online
- Follow this link to access the Student Login for online tickets.
- Click the "Purchase Tickets" button located in the bottom righthand corner of the page.
- If the "Purchase Tickets" button does not appear, call the Box Office @ 540/568-7000, Monday through Friday, 10 am to 5:30 pm for immediate assistance. Email (forbesboxoffice@jmu.edu) the Box Office for a more relaxed response time. The Box Office will update the account to allow online access. Proceed with steps 1 through 11.
- A list of events will appear that offer a discounted student ticket that can be purchased online. Remember, discounted student tickets for outside artists must be purchased in person.
- Click "Buy Tickets" for the event you'd like to purchase.
- Select seat(s). Only one ticket to one event can be purchased at the discounted student rate per transaction. Regular priced tickets may be also be purchased at this time.
- Click "Add to Cart".
- Enter the code student2425 in the Coupon Code box.
- Click "Update Total". The price of one ticket will change to the discounted student rate.
- Please double check the price is correct. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.
- Click "Checkout".
- Enter payment information.
- Click "Submit".
- Your ticket will be digital. An email with your Print @ Home ticket will be sent to your @dukes.jmu.edu account. The ticket can be printed or kept in digital form. At the venue doors, before presenting a digital ticket to be scanned, increase the phone brightness to 100% and zoom in on the barcode.
Guest Etiquette
- Please be respectful of other patrons. Patrons that interfere with the performance will be asked to leave.
- Please put your phone away. Out of respect for the performers, and due to copyright rules, texting, photography, video and audio recording are not allowed.
- Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of management at an appropriate time in the performance.
- Most performances are reserved seating. You cannot change seats during a performance.
- Food, drinks, and large personal items are not allowed in the venues.
