Rachel Childers joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra as second horn in 2011, becoming the first female member of the BSO brass section in the orchestra’s nearly 140-year history. With playing described as “nimble and well-contoured,” (The Boston Globe) Childers has also held positions with the Colorado Symphony and orchestras throughout California. Deeply devoted to educational initiatives in her community, Childers participates in BSO’s “Concerts for Very Young People” and “BSO in Residence” program in Boston where she currently serves on the horn faculty at New England Conservatory of Music.
