Dr. Jamison Walker will perform with fellow JMU faculty member Gabriel Dobner a program featuring the music of Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Duparc, Wagner, and more!
Dr. Jamison Walker commands an impressive vocal range and an extensive repertoire. From opera and oratorio to musical theatre and pops, Walker has performed in recital, opera, symphonic, and academic settings nationally and internationally across the United States and in Europe and Asia. Walker is equally at home in tenor repertoire ranging from Bach to Wagner and Mozart to Britten. He has recently been heard in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci with First Coast Opera and Opera in the Ozarks, Luigi in Puccini’s Il Tabarro with Opera in the Ozarks, and as the tenor soloist in Bach’s St. John Passion at Duke University. Walker is in demand as a singer, pedagogue and clinician. He joined the faculty at James Madison University in 2018.
Pianist Gabriel Dobner has played for such notable singers as Kevin McMillan, Gerhard Siegel, Rod Gilfry, Cornelia Kallisch and René Kollo. He has recorded for Haenssler Classic and MDG in Germany, as well as Ottavo in Holland. Following his first CD with Cornelia Kallisch for MDG, Dobner was referred to as a “master among Lieder pianists” by West German Radio in Cologne. Broadcast recordings include those for the Bavarian State Radio, West German Radio, North German Radio, Nippon Broadcasting Corporation in Japan, as well as for Saint Paul Sunday in the United States. He has performed in many of the world’s leading venues including those in Vienna, Dresden, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Zürich, Budapest, Barcelona, Tokyo, Nagoya and Seoul. Dobner joined the piano faculty at JMU in 2001, and has also been on the faculty of AIMS in Graz since 2017.
