Minnesota Orchestra members John Snow and Peter McGuire make their debut performance at the Forbes Center!

John Snow joined the Minnesota Orchestra in 1999 in the role of second oboe, was appointed to the associate principal position in 2004, and became principal oboe in 2017. He previously held the position of principal oboe with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the oboe sections in the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (New York). Snow served on the faculties of the State University of New York at Geneseo, Ithaca College, St. Olaf College and Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and was a visiting professor of oboe at the Eastman School of Music. Before moving to Minneapolis, Snow was a professor of oboe at The University of Texas at Austin. He joined the faculty of the School of Music at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2000.

A member of the Minnesota Orchestra from 2003-2012, Peter McGuire rejoined the Orchestra in 2016 after serving as second concertmaster with Tonhalle Orchester-Zürich for three years. McGuire began his career as first violinist in the Pioneer String Quartet and Des Moines Symphony, and has served as guest principal second violin with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. McGuire has performed as guest concertmaster with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Zürich Opera, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, the Gürzenich Orchestra of Cologne, and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has performed and recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic, SWR Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, the All-Star Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A chamber musician and soloist, McGuire has been featured with the Minnesota Orchestra for the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. A frequent adjudicator, he has given master classes throughout the United States and Switzerland.
